GOOGLE WALK

Google the name of your town, city, or neighbourhood.
Notice where Google plants its pin.
Put down your phone and leave all maps behind. Walk to the pin.&#38;nbsp;

FRIEND WALK

Go for a walk. Walk about until you run into someone you know.&#38;nbsp;Say hello.

Framed by five walking exercises, the book invites the reader to participate in

		<description>WALK WITH ME

 blakemwalks@gmail.com

Blake Morris

Doctor of Walking

	In 2006 I walked away from theatre.
I was concerned about capitalism.
I was concerned about participation.
I was concerned about climate change.
I was concerned about sustainability.
I was concerned about spending my days locked in a dark room.
Walking was a way to enter the world.

As I walked I realised I wasn’t alone. Networks of walkers with concerns similar to mine were emerging. In Huntly and Helsinki, London and New York City, artists were walking, talking and thinking together. A medium was being developed. Since 2009 I have been dedicated to making art works that can only be experienced as a walk. No matter the content, the medium is constant: the walk is the work of art. A walk of art is an invitation to move through the world with an artist’s design.
So I invite you to walk. No matter how far apart we are, we can walk together, just get in touch.

Blake Morris is a walking artist and researcher. He holds a PhD in
Drama, Applied Theatre and Performance from the University of East London. He is a co-founder and current director of The Walk Exchange. You can find him on Instagram.&#38;nbsp;

British Summer Time is a series of short sunrise walks in consideration of the time change. Over fourteen seasons, walkers from across Europe, Asia and the Americas have walked the dawn with me. You can join from anywhere in the world for one walk, all of them, or anywhere in between.
Its a simple process:
1. Go for a walk from fifteen minutes before sunrise until fifteen minutes after.
2. Share your sunrise through email or social media. &#38;nbsp;

	Season 14 will begin when the USA starts Daylight Saving Time and continue until the UK switches to British Summer Time.
I will walk from 15 minutes before sunrise until 15 minutes after. Please join me by doing the same wherever you are.

Dates: 8 March - 29 March 2026

Time: From 15 minutes before sunrise until fifteen minutes after.

Location: Wherever you happen to be.

Share: I take a picture at the beginning, middle and end of my walk, but you can feel free to document it any way you please. Please share your results however you like, on social media (#WalkBST #WalkingArtistsNetwork), through email (blakemwalks@gmail.com), or in a way I may not have considered.
Past Walks:
I have written about the walks in a number of locations:
The British Summer Time blog&#38;nbsp; (seasons 1). The Walking Artists Network Blog (seasons 2 and 3). Another British Summer Time blog (Season 5)Another British Summer Time blog&#38;nbsp;(Season 7)And, more formally, at Livingmaps Review (Season 10).The rest remain uncollated: Seasons 4 (13-28 March 2021), 6 (12 - 27 March, 2022), 8 (11 - 26 March, 2023), 9 (30 October to 5 November, 2023), 11 (27 October to 3 November, 2024) 12 (9 March - 30 March 2025), and 13 (26 November - 2 December).

	Former Fresnans is an imaginary sculpture park in Fresno’s Tower District, based on the ancient Greek technique of the memory palace. Built with former Fresnan’s living in London, New York City, San Francisco and Oakland, each sculpture records the memories of a walk between two places the former Fresnan considered home in their new city.
For more information on the project, see my interview with Donald Munro in The Fresno Bee or my book chapter in New Directions in Radical Cartography.

 The memory palace contains work created
in collaboration with Courtney Amchislavsky, Kelsey Bergstrom, Duane Boutte, Tiffany Chandler, Andrew Guagliardo, Richard Giddens, Kenney Greene, Erin Jacoby Hickman, Kahliah Laney, Alex Lawrence, Phoebe Lehr, Patrick McNaughton, Bryan Miller, Carla Ogden, CeCe Olesa, Richard Sanchez, Ashley Semrick DesRochers, Grace Poole, Brett Van Aalsburg, Robert Voris, &#38;amp; Justin Weatherby.I am always looking for former Fresnans&#38;nbsp; for one-on-one walks.
Email blakemwalks@gmail.com to set one up.

		<description>52 More (2021-2022)

After I finished 52 Scores (2019-2020) I was left with a pile of off-cuttings. Words I considered, but didn’t use. Now I’d like to invite you to use them with me as part of 52 More.

If you’d like to make a score e-mail your postal address to

blakemwalks@gmail.com

and you will recieve a

kit in the mail.* Each score takes one week to build (around five to ten minutes a day). Once you’ve made the score we can choose a time to walk it together (and invite others to join us if we so desire).&#38;nbsp;You can also join in the walks as the scores are made (check out the&#38;nbsp;upcoming walks page.) To participate in a walk, read the score and decide how you interpet it as instructions for a walk. For instance, you might follow the words as a map, or use specific sentences as provocations for your exploration. You can do the walks anywhere in the world in whatever environment suits them best. If you have questions or want to arrange a specific walking exchange, e-mail blakemwalks@gmail.com. You can also share you walks via social media using the hashtag

#52More

I will be sharing the scores and documenting the walking exchanges on the

project blog. Feel free to participate in previous walks as well. If you share your documentation with me I will add it to the blog.

*I am committed to making this project fully accessible. The score making kits contain a handwritten letter in cursive script, and cut out words and sentences in different font types and sizes. This can be adjusted, so please let me know if you have individual access needs.
